Subject: Supporting the mental health of Black employees and their families
This year’s Black History Month theme, “African Americans and Labor” encourages us to reflect on the transformational work of Black people and communities throughout history. Today we honor the profound impact their work has made in all facets of society and industry, from labor movements and entrepreneurship to social justice and political leadership.
We also recognize the inequities and disparities that people in the Black community continue to endure, including barriers to mental health care, such as bias, stigma, and lack of culturally competent providers.
To support the mental well-being of Black employees and their families, we’re pleased to share a selection of culturally relevant content on Calm Health, including programs from clinical psychologists Dr. Rheeda Walker and Dr. Tiffany G. Townsend. Dr. Walker has dedicated nearly two decades to helping people in the Black community combat stigma, practice emotional well-being, and build resilience. As a clinician and scholar, Dr. Townsend has over two decades of experience working to advance health equity.
